Stress Busters After School Program Returns for Another Year

Returning again this year for grade 4-6 students at Wellington Catholic District School Board is Stress Busters After School Program offered by Strong Minds, Strong Kids The Psychology Foundation of Canada.

Following a positive inaugural year, Strong Minds Strong Kids, The Psychology Foundation of Canada will be delivering Stress Busters Camp - designed as an evidence-based program from Kids Have Stress Too! (KHST!) This program focuses on peer-to-peer support that allows students to put their learning into practice and to provide participating children and their families with education and support in relation to stress management and resilience.

“Strong Minds, Strong Kids offered Stress Busters to our students last year and it was really successful among for the students who participated, we received excellent feedback from families speaking to the success of the program and the skills their children had developed,” shared Sony Brar, Mental Health Lead and Senior Manager of Mental Health Services. “Students have the opportunity to identify how stress shows up for them, while learning healthy coping strategies when things get tough.”

The 8-week program is designed for kids to learn psychology-based stress management techniques and practice these strategies in a safer space.

“Participants practice their learnings among supportive peers, forming connections and strengthening their coping strategies,” shared Brar.

While the first session beginning at the end of October has already been filled, additional sessions will be offered throughout the school year.
